What is fair isle?
The style uses a particular knitting technique and the pattern is named after a tiny island off the coast of Scotland called none other than, Fair Isle. An island so tiny, it has a population of fifty-five residents spread across three square miles. You can still get a true fair isle sweater knitted on the tiny island through Mati Ventrillon, it will just take being on a 3-year waitlist!

You can find fair isle sweaters just about anywhere. Jcrew, Vineyard Vines, Macys, and Nordstrom have some at a higher price point. I found Some more affordable options at Target, Gap, and Old Navy. There arent many retailers that don’t carry their rendition during the colder months.
